Seeing Live music Again-The House Of Ghosts Grantham 2-12-17

In this Blog post I will explain why I decided to see Live music again, and why seeing The House of Ghosts was even more special then the first time seeing them ages ago in Grantham (:

The past couple of weeks i have had a very deep thought about my life and where i would like it to go. I had decided that i no longer wanted to do Video Production, and that i was also having thoughts of dropping photography as well and here is why !!!

For me in 2016 Photography was the main reason why i managed to get out of the house, it was a distraction away from my mental health, and over the course of learning it lead to something i never thought would happen.
This was using my skills to connect with the community, to take photography, capturing things at local events, and meeting really amazing people.
My camera was a way to hide myself in a way and allowed me to be a more confident person.
At the start of this year, I started going to see Live music In Grantham, The first time i went i did not take my camera and i could not take it.
Since then every-time I could to see artists and bands i do my part by Taking photography of these events and helping spread the word of the amazing talent that either is in Grantham, or has come to Grantham to play.
However My life became some what of a loop that over the past few months i have felt my confidence shrink and that taking photography was something i was not enjoying doing.
I believe everything happens for a reason, so with that in Mind I knew The house of Ghosts were playing again and i wanted to see them, from enjoying the experience last time.
I had decided to not take my camera, not even bring a bag, both of which have been constant distractions, as i have had to stand for hours watching people perform so i could keep moving around taking photos.

For anyone who does not know who The House of Ghosts are here is a
small summary (:

The House of Ghosts are a female fronted original four piece ethereal rock band from the Midlands. They formed back in the summer of 2015 and have gigged around the local scene gathering ghosts along the way. They have an intoxicating rich rock sound with ethereal meandering melody. The wide ranging, enticing vocals from Gina Stone and big riffs from guitarist Leigh Edwards prove to be a fabulously powerful combination. Plus from November 2017 there will be fresh new blood in the rhythm section Danny Krash on drums and Dan Foster on bass giving the ghosts a new dimension.
Their first EP 'Curious Attraction', released last year, has had a fantastic response. Reviews appearing in rock magazines and websites including Power Play Rock and Metal Magazine, Sea of Tranquility (Progressive Rock) Website and Woody's Rock Reviews. They were invited by BBC Lincolnshire Introducing to play a live session in June 2017 which included a cover of Black Velvet and various tracks from Curious Attraction. Also plenty of airplay from local radio stations including BBC Introducing Nottingham, TBFM Insonic Rocks and Gravity FM, Songs of Preys, Nightbreed Radio - Dark Frequency.

From the groove-led hard rock of Pulse to the gentle ballad of Drowning, catchy choruses of Magnetic and Moonchild, plus a sprinkling of carefully chosen covers, The House of Ghosts will make any gig a good night to be haunted!

I got there early which meant that i got myself a seat upfront and watched the band do test runs and setting up, I always try to be at the front as that way i do not have to fear of looking forward being surrounded by lots of people, i just focus on the band and the music (:

From the moment they sung their first song, they already took their sound quality to a new level, and sounded even better then the last time i heard them.
The Unique thing about this band, is how well the songs are put Together, with most of them being longer then your normal radio song, your hit with the very elegant and powerful voice of Gina Stone Aka Janet Mcdermott-Brown that passes through your body and soul, almost feel like your drifting away but then brought back by the most insane crazy skills of the new drummer Danny Krash, who was having the time of his life, if thats not enough you have the pulses of the bass guitar by  Daniel Foster and the really epic and mesmerizing Guitar skills and solos by Leigh Edwards with Exciting Rifts that brings a passion and edge to the band !!!
The whole experience of watching them live is like your living an atmosphere of being In a 80,90's Festival, In front of a massive crowd just having the time of your life (:

They have Recently been on BBC Introducing Which i think is awesome and i am glad to see this band getting know !!!
Half way through, the set  even though I loved every member of the band, scanning back and forth really watching the fingers move wild on the Guitars and hearing the wonderful smooth vocals, I have to admit Danny Krash caught my eye the most.
I have always had a passion for listening closely and watching drummers, If there is a concert on TV i focus more to the beat of the drums then the whole song, Its crazy how much a drummer can play to perfection and just pour their heart out, i also love when it comes to the end of the song and you get to see the mad drum solo hehe.
I was happy because not only was i relaxed but was having the time of life just not being me while being me?This is where a lot of photographers will know this pain, that is of spending to much time in front of a screen rather then just living the moment.
Its annoying because Technology is everywhere, and often is our downfall, and it took me to have a set back of doing photography, to see how much i hid behind the camera in order to make friends but also force myself to see bands play.
Seeing that band play was the first time i had went without my camera, i may not have spoken to anyone but to me just being able to chill and listen to live music which is way better then anything in the world, just made me happy (:
Its nice to have photos to lookback on but i do feel that gigs are meant to be enjoyed, by not spending time looking down to change settings on a camera and watch them through a lens !!!!
It was nice just being a a human being for a change and not having to relay on a camera in order to enjoy life (:

As the band was performing their last songs, I must admit their last songs were the best and the ones i enjoyed the most, I fount myself, moving and tapping along more and more wishing i could live in that moment just a little bit more (:

I was super impressed with the 2 new members as it was their first time performing in a venue as a whole band.
Overall I aim to see them again but in a different venue maybe Lincoln or Newark and even if my blog inspires just one person to see live music and even see The House Of ghosts then i will be thrilled hehe.

I hope The band keeps staying strong, making new tracks, expanding their audience and who knows touring across Countries one day !!!!
Note- photography in this blog is not mine (:

Grantham Live Music Scene, The Mummy, Mouse Trap & Jasper Cain, 05-08-17 | Daniel Marshall Adventures

Gosh its been a hell of a week, was meant to have this up by now, i just had a lack of creativity and motivation to write  this so here goes !!!!!!!

After a few months of not going to see live gigs due to it being to much on my anxiety, i decided to to come out of my comfort zone, as i missed it the the thrill and excitement but also taking photography of the performers (:

On Saturday 5th August 2017 I went to see Mouse Trap, Mummy And Jasper Cain At Castle Gate In Grantham My friend Trevor Bunn was Hosting it, Whenever he is around at the gigs i feel much better about going because i know someone there, and also even if we do not talk a lot i just feel more safe and happy with him being there (:

Mouse Trap was up first so as always i made sure to be up front, to not only get the best surroundings for listening to music but to capture photography (:

These Guys were amazing, again my eyes and ears were focused more on the drums, haha Thats just me i like all of a song but seem to find myself often tapping away to the beat.

You have heard of battle of the bands but in this case it was battle of the photographers !!!

You can see my camera in the corner, then you have Annie Gascoyne also know as Alternative Annie
She is a photographer but also write Blog posts, you can find out more about her here (:
https://anniesalternative.wordpress.com

here is a few of her pictures she took of the night (:

You then Had Trevor behind Taking photography as well, and all i could see at the side of me was them laughing at each other as they had to battle with who was going to get the best shots haha

The next band blew my mind away, and was the highlight of the night for me.
That is of course Mummy, also known as we are your mummy.

Every song just seem to be better then the last, The drummer was epic,  The lead vocalist Frank has some incredible Tattoos as you can see from the Picture at the start of this blog.
I do not think i have ever seen a man, pour his soul so much into the microphone, as well as doing some great head banding and a moment i wished i had captured on camera.
Luckily enough Trevor got that golden shot haha

I noticed the cool pedals on the floor you can see next to him, i did try to capture these but the photo did not turn out great.

From the amazing drum parts, to the passionate Vocalist you would think that was it but then you had the earth cracking, rib crunching bass, rumbling through your whole body, it was insane.
words of last 2 songs came out of their mouths and i really did not want it to end.
A sure way to end a night on a high is to play a track, that people will remember and to really give it everything you have got.
A nearly 10 Minute song, which Inc a lot of Drops all at once, The music just made you speechless, and i found myself now head banding to it, and just wanting to jump up and down.

You really get a totally different experience when you watch bands play live, you get to live the moment, feel the vibes run through your bones, here tracks that are upcoming and never been heard else where, remixes etc.

I just loved the reaction of this dude, like he is saying Guys.... I can see a mummy !!!!

I can tell you after that long song, the adrenaline i felt was amazing, they finished with a killer last song as well, My overall opinion i think these guys killed it they showed what Grantham is all about,
They showed how to rock a stage, and to say I do not normally listen to their genre of music, it was like i had fallen in love and listen to them play for years.
They opened my heart to their style of music, I can not say everytime i see a band play oh they were the best band i have ever seen.
I think its hard to choose your Fav band, Thats why the bands that have been coming to Grantham not just at castle Gate but other venues, its just been a good selection of different music, from acoustic, heavy metal, rock and much more.
CJ Hatt Rocks the acoustic style, but Mummy rocks well i would not call it Heavy Metal so lets say the rock section haha !!!

It was around 10 pm and i Realized when i got home after looking on social media I had left before seeing Jasper Cain, Although i was gutted, in another way i felt  it was the right time to leave,
My heart was Racing, and I could hardly hear due to being so close to the speakers !!!
so here is a picture From Trevor (:

It would be Great to see this band one day but also it would be killer to hear The Mummy again !!!!
Overall, it was a great night of music, I really enjoyed myself, and i was really glad to have gone along, as it cant always been done but sometimes you need to put yourself in that position where you might not like being there but once you Focus on just listening to the music, you will feel much better, if i did not go i would not of been able to find new music, have my heart racing, and Capure some great photography of the bands (:

So Thank you to all the bands that came To Grantham, I really hope, More Talent comes to Grantham or is even fount in good old G town !!!!!!!!

Highlighting Musical Talent This month #1 | DanielMarshallAdventures

Each month I am looking to expand the different types of music i like and in doing so i have found some amazing talent which I thought would be a great idea to start a series on.

We are going to start with someone who i have not only listened to their music but seen in person 4 times now.
I have made videos of his performance and took photography and even wrote Blog posts about him.
That is of course CJ Hatt

He lives In Grantham, which just keeps amazing me more and more that i know someone local to me (:

The last time i saw CJ was only a few days a go on 2nd July 2017 at the royal Queen Pub In Grantham.
He has a nice big area toward the front of the Pub to perform and he aced every song he played, the more times i see him the better he seems to be, the more chances i get to chat with him and I put my hand up and admit i am becoming a bit of a huge fan lol.

What made me laugh is some people kept wanting him to play foo fighters, which he did, and covered loads of other songs inc what he thinks won him to the chance to play at festival too, which is busted's song year 3000,  Overall he is just a down to earth chap which you can have a laugh with, and even dance and sing to his music.

I could write so much more but do not want it to be a post just about him (: so if you want to see photography and videos of him please check the links at the end of the post.

This next person, I only got to know about via a friend which is Spoon Wizard Aka Graham.

he Started getting into the Dance style of music in the early 90s.
Some of his music i love is a Remake on Jesus on e's. which is like a mini set of Old school rave dance music which i love so much.
Another track which i love is a remix he did off Ki:Theory's Kitty Hawk album. called open wound. This was a dubstep remix and very high productive skills (:

I believe my friend said that he was living in Hull but i could be wrong,
Overall i love his music has a good range to listen to, and i am glad my friend recommend him.

The next Artist is someone i found from a song Spoon Wizard liked.which then started to listen to the rest of the songs From That CD and loved them.
The Artist is called hOffman and no thats now my miss spelling that is how its spelled.

I tired to find information about him but their website is down, and their Facebook about me just gives the website info.
All i can tell you is that he is a musician and he is Artist & Manager at Unstable Label.
his type of music is soft but with upbeat drums and electronic music styles.

Its hard to explain but i have become hooked onto his music and want to try and create some similar styles of music to his.

Going back to live acts i have seen, is House Of Ghosts which i saw live only a few days a go on the 3rd June 2017 at Castle Gate Grantham.
At the moment Grantham has been getting a lot of talent in, we just need to have more venues playing live music (:

I manged to capture some photography and videos of their performance which again can be found at the end of this post.
I arrived a hour early, and even when they was warming up, i got excited to see what else they could play.
I noticed a sound guy with his computer on checking all the levels, and they had a killer PA System that you could feel the bass through your whole body which was amazing.

The band kind of reminds me of a band called Nightwish, The singer sounding even more like the lead singer from that band.
Each song was longer then most artists, which was around 5mins + but they did killer guitar solos and you would be amazed what the right atmosphere, Pad in the background can do to make the song longer but also more and more gripping.

I had to leave early due to not feeling great but i am sure they kept up the great vibe and would love to see them again.
Going to music events has really open my choice of music that i like, i get to meet the artists and even help promote them,  i couldn't ask for more (:

A little bit of extra information about them from their Facebook page .
The House of Ghosts are a five piece ethereal rock band from the Midlands. They formed in the summer of 2015 after singer/songwriter Gina Stone spent six years searching for musicians who could add that bit of magic to her songs and develop new material. The individual members have a wealth of experience and have played from small intimate venues to large capacity festivals. They have joined together with ease and have quickly become a very tight outfit with each member adding their own flavour to some excellent original material.

After a brief period working on some great songs the newly formed band spent some time producing their initial recording, an EP entitled Curious Attraction. Even before the official release of the EP, BBC East Midlands Introducing picked up on it and aired one of the tracks which got some great comments from people who heard it. Now armed with the EP, The House of Ghosts are making some noise locally and further afield and are keeping the Ghost Army fan base moving forward, picking up new recruits along the way. Their live performances are engaging audiences and are getting some awesome reactions and repeat bookings. Curious Attraction is also getting some outstanding comments such as “FANTASTIC, love it, heard so called professionals not sound that good. AWESOME!”

Onto the final artist which i have mentioned in a blog post before and he is one of the people who gives me inspiration for creating new ways to make a song.
That is of course Andrew Huang

I started watching His YouTube Videos a while back, and i have to say he puts so much freaking effort into now only making music content but showing behind the scenes, on sampling, mixing, mastering and a whole catalog more.
One of best series i watch is where he makes music from objects, cuts them down into samples he can use, even manages to put them into a keyboard so he can play the notes to create bass, synths , leads etc.
I also learn a lot about the different keys in music, and I just do not get how he has the time to do so much.
He made a video recently which you can find at the end, where you used a app called beat hawk to create 5 different tracks.
Each track he showed a small section of how it was made and then use one of the songs as backing while he went out and about showing you cool views before showing you more of how the track comes together.
As a Youtube  Content creator myself its extremely hard to find backing music, for travelling, or showcasing the stuff you did in the day.
With Andrew he cleverly puts his own created music in the background which makes the video production even better and more enjoyable.
He has worked with different companies and even networking with other Youtubers to create music.
Even though i do not record my sounds to be used in songs, i have learned a lot that i did not know, and adapted into my own work to make the production at a much higher level (:
so please check out his work, !!!!
The last thing i wanted just to slip in, is going back to Seeing CJ Hatt play.
I always arrive early to music events and sometimes that it the best thing as you get to meet and experience a different side to things.
Many times i have managed to get chatting to the guy that runs the Music scene In Grantham and the other week when CJ was playing at the royal Queen i was sat with people and was hearing this amazing powerful singing voice, just someone singing away to their friends i think.
This someone worked at the pub, and she really needs to get herself known as she was freaking amazing and her friends even said what are you doing working here lol.

So I hope you have find out so info about new artists you have never heard about, i shall be doing these blog posts every month so that i can not only expand my music listing but to help others to as well (:

The Title of this video From Andrew Huang has changed but is still the same content i was explaining about

Grantham Music extravaganza Bank Holiday weekend !!!! | DanielMarshallAdventures

The last month I have started going out to see the local music events in Grantham.
I have to say that this bank holiday weekend which started on the 26th may 2017 saw so many artists and to me was the best bank Holiday weekend ever.

First off is someone who is so amazing that I have seen him not once but 3 times in just over a week.
Which is CJ Hatt, i did a blog post about seeing him at Castle Gate Grantham, the weekend before, which Grantham Matters Mentioned it.
Its funny how cross promoting works that, my Blog post was about the night and promoting not only the business but the performer, which then Grantham Matters promoted it more (:

CJ Hatt, put on his Facebook that we was going to be out in Grantham, in the streets Performing, over a few days.
So on Friday 26th May 2017 i went out with my camera to meet him, and capture his awesomeness.
I left at the right time as i got to have a nice long chat with him, it was the first time i had talked to a artist and it felt a once in a lifetime thing so i made the most of it.

It was a hot day, and i stayed for about a hour making sure to get a lot of photography as well as capture the videos, which you can see all the links to them at the end of this post.

I really enjoyed listing to his music, and at one point he did a great guitar solo, which he ended up hurting himself a slight bit but he just enjoyed playing that much (:
Although i enjoyed every song he played, i have to say that he smashes the tenacious d songs.

he reminds me a little of Jack Black, and remembering how  good the film school of rock was.

After putting up the photography and videos, CJ Hatt mentioned me and helped share the video which is nice when you can connect with a artist help them and they help you.

Moving onto Later that evening was a band called Loose Change who were playing at the Nobody Inn In Grantham.

I stayed around half a hour, due to again it being to hot, plus my depression started to kick in and i did not feel great.

A different style of music and atmosphere was played by them, and i enjoyed the music again, I got some more photography, and a video still to sort out, of them performing.
The venue is next to the amazing Hunters Bar which is a pool, snooker and much more business.
Has the best drinks, and cheesy chips in the world hehe (:

Onto Saturday which was a really busy day for seeing artists.
At the Railway Club in Grantham Lou Dean was playing, I did not attend this so if anyone who has been captured any of the playing, please contact me on Facebook, and i will add extra details in.
Same for Oak who played at The Kings Arms.

The event i Did go to was packed with musical talent.
This Inc Misty Miller, Matt Grocott, Spud,Katie Lyle, Rupert Tyreer.
I got talking to Trevor who runs The Grantham Live Music Scene.
He Helps put on the events, tells people what events are going off and even takes photography.
Here are a few of his images.

This was the first event i managed to stayed to the end, and i am glad i did as the music was so powerful, and mesmerising, Misty Miller, and Katie has voices that you could just drift off to, and relax, such talent, and amazing singers.

Spud was like a comedy singer, and i really enjoyed his style, chanted with him, and he got the crowds going,
Below you can see my Images i took, I also got footage of many of the acts, which i am still going through, so keep getting this blog and my social media for updates !!!

I think that night was one of the best nights of a good range of musicians, every single one i can see going far in life, it was not to busy, but not to quiet in the pub either which meant i could enjoy the night better.

So Onto Sundays Musical Entertainment !!!
I Did not get chance to see Not Quite Geoff, who was playing at the sir Isacc Newton Pub,
The system who was at the Royal queen or even The Random who played at the white lion, due to editing photography and videos most of the day.
I did save myself to walk a long way to see Mr CJ Hatt once again who i did not think i would ever get to see again.
This time he played at the Recruiting Sergeant which was at Great gonerby.

I got there with plenty of time to spare, But at i entered i was over whelmed to see it was so packed already.
CJ was setting up and had a talk to him, about some things, mentioning how bright the led lights were, and finding myself the perfect stop to sit.
I noticed lots and lots of food being brought out, from sausage rolls, slices of pizza, chicken nuggets, sandwiches and so much more food.
I said to CJ i wonder who has ordered the food, it turned out the venue had put on a free Buffet.
I had no idea about this, and decided to get a few bits, which the quality of the food was OMG so tasty.
within 15mins, It all has nearly gone !!!!
CJ played some different songs to which he had played in town which was good to hear what else he played.
I got myself a Big glass of Lemonade which was cheap, and was nice and cold, since again it was really warm weather.
CJ Played a cover From Busted which was the year 3000, and i have to say he was freaking awesome.
His voice is so pure, and has one of the best singing voices in my opinion in the world.

He spoke about going to the Festival too, and Playing At Glastonbury this year !!!
So i not only got the chance to spoke to CJ on more then one occasion, listen to his music, but meet someone who is going to be famous !!! hehe (:

I also got some news that make me enjoy the night even more, one person said to CJ that they had seen my post from Grantham Matters about him.
Another person thought i worked for a magazine, which i got to know the person talked about my history off Photography and videos and how i like to help my local community.

Towards the end it got really busy, with people dancing around, which meant i could not capture anymore photography or videos but decided to stay around for a bit longer to just live in the moment and enjoy the music.
I stayed for about 3 hours but due to it getting really packed i decided to leave as although i was enjoying myself i still have not got used to being around so many people.

So that was it for the Bank Holiday music wise.
I am setting myself up for the next event i am going to which is... CJ of course hehe cant get enough of him, he plays in Grantham again This Friday which is the 2nd June 2017, he will be playing at the Royal Queen Pub.
Looking forward to getting to know him even more (:

I am just glad that with my photography, videos and even these blogs i can help out a little by helping promote the Musical Talent In Grantham.
A few people inc CJ was talking about how there needs to be more venues In Grantham to play live music, and that some of the best pubs that had live music have now gone.

I have to say that the last few weeks had been so busy with musicians in Grantham and i hope it keeps growing !!!

Please check out all the photography and videos of the Performances below and thank you for reading
